Picaday and some photos of an owl from our walk today

Updated the Photo a Day for yesterday and today. Yesterday’s was another cat picture, because the weather tried to kill us rather than let us watch Craig’s competition. Today’s however, is a picture of an owl that I saw while out on a walk with Chris & Chantal.

More pictures of the Owl are in the photo journal, as well as a couple of other random Pitt Meadows photos.

Headache is still there and annoying. No more photo editing for me this evening.

My opinion of your beautiful owl:

a juevenile great horned… sans horns yet… the best I could come up with anyway. NO other owl has the orange face..

update to my previous entry.. I found this about the great horned owl, so not necessarily juvenile.:

Appearance : This is the largest bird in the area measuring some 56 cm in length. The color is orange brown, buff, white and black. It may also happen that at times, the feathers are arranged in such a way that no orange is seen. The coloration and pattern effects a very good camouflage and especially when it rests in drying grass and bushes of the locality, it is difficult to be spotted. After the breeding season, the feathers in the ‘horn’ are shed and for a time the bird is ‘hornless’

ya, I’m a geek.. but your pics were BEAUTIFUL

If so, definitely a juvenile. It was little. 😀

That’s so cute. 🙂 Baby owl!
I love owls but don’t see many around here and even when I go bird watching, I’m lucky to find any.
