VOTE!! Or something.

I’ve been thinking more about my 2005 Photo Retrospective, and trying to figure out what I want to do. There are a few options.

Keeping in mind, of course, if no one votes in this poll, then I’ll have to assume that no one would vote for the pictures either. Also, if there was voting for the pictures, I would shortlist them so people wouldn’t have to go through ALL of them. Also, I would leave voting open for a week (since I’ll be offline for some of that anyhow.)

Today’s Picture a Day is now uploaded. I’ll probably get tomorrow’s done too, but once we’ve moved on Sunday we will be without internet for a bit, so I will continue taking photos but will not be able to post them until we’re online.

I packed up everything on my desk. Dayle and Sera watched me very, very closely. They know what’s going on now. Tomorrow will be dedicated to more packing, and I think Chris & Chantal are coming over. Otherwise it will be a quiet New Year’s Eve inside.

This apartment is cold. I don’t like it.

I think I’ll start tidying the office and packing up stuff in here. While I’m at it, I’ll turn on the cam, if I can find a place to put it.

Picture a Day update

I’ve just added the newest photos to the Picture a Day project. For today’s I actually had to collect some stuff on the way home from work and set it up in the dining room.

I’ve been sorting things to pack, on and off. I should probably go through my desk. I finally installed that hard drive, and then installed Baldur’s Gate II and started playing it. Mmmmmm Bioware, I love you. Please don’t bring out NWN 2 until I have a computer that can play it… I beg you.

I think this year I will do a photos of the year retrospective in my photo gallery and journal. That should be interesting. Now the question is, will I focus on my best/favourite photos, or ones that tell stories about what was going on at the time? Hmmm. Much to consider.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My sister had her baby Finn a few months ago.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
I can’t think of anyone, so I hope not, because I’ve already forgotten them if they did…

5. What countries did you visit?
Canada. I got to visit 5 provinces in Canada.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Financial stability and the means to pay off the debts we incurred in 2005.

Sept. 4th – our wedding day.

Starting and Finishing my novel for NaNoWriMo.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I don’t know. Weird. usually these are the things I obsess about.

I sprained my foot mountain biking and was on crutches for a week. I fell off my mountain bike and got a huge bruise on my thigh. I fell off my mountain bike and bruised my knee (twice.) I detect a pattern here.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Kona Dawg (the new mountain bike, replacing the Wee Giant.)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My younger brother, the one everyone seems to think is a write-off. He’s doing really well these days.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My stepdad, who didn’t bother to come to my wedding, and didn’t bother to tell me why, write me a letter, or anything, but instead sent a note to my mother-in-law, who he has never met. Not even a card. Thanks dad.

14. Where did most of your money go?

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worry about Adam’s health.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I went to my mom’s where we had the usual family Christmas, much the same as when I was growing up. It was nice.

Yes… It’s hard not to fall in love with the person you’re marrying when you’re standing together at your marriage, I think.

I’ve been watching Full Metal Alchemist downloaded to the computer. Also, Babylon 5, which I should really finish watching.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. My favourite book of the series. Good movie too.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old?
Adam was very, very sick the night before my birthday so we got no sleep all night. Finally slept for about three hours, then went for a drive up Mt. Seymour with Tara. Ate a steak at Earl’s Restaurant, came home and helped Tara make me an Angel Food Cake of Joy. Played some SSX Tricky and fell asleep. Turned 29.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I know this will sound weird, but being able to stay longer the night at my Karaoke Party in Toronto rather than take Adam back to the condo because he was in so much pain would have really, really, really been awesome. I miss Karaoke, and Trasie, and Miriam and Lindsay, and all that stuff and those people, and that was my only night to really spend time with them.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Mountain Equipment Co-Op inspired. (mostly due to the staff discount.)

34. What kept you sane?

You know what? I’ve now combed a bunch of ‘top stars 2005’ sites, and I can’t find anyone. Not one. Am I inhuman or something?

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Calling early election crap.

37. Who did you miss?
Trasie, Emma, Miriam, Shawn, Jordy, Mom & Dad Silver, Ian, and oddly enough I’ve missed the opportunity to get to know my sisters.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Baby Finn… he was the only new person I met. The rest had all been around a while.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
I am awesome! Really, truly awesome!!

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Funny How I’m always here with you
I never meant to
Change your world or change your point of view
I only want to
Hold you when I feel a little blue
I hope you know I’ll
Always be there for you

I’ve been slacking in my responsibility lately, mostly due to a lack of inspiration, with the Vancouver metblog. However, I have written an update to it today. Not a particularly exciting one, but something nonetheless.

Dayle is curled up in my lap as I sit cross-legged in my chair. My left foot is asleep. Blasted 15 lb demon beast.

Many things I should be doing…

none of which I am. I shall list them now so that I can feel properly slothful.

  • Dishes
  • Packing for the move
  • Cooking dinner
  • Installing that hard drive
  • Cleaning the living room
  • Cleaning the bedroom
  • Playing sims 2 or black & white 2
  • Editing my NaNoWriMo novel

And less immediately:

  • Working on the website redesign
  • Editing photos from the weekend and putting them up in my Photo Journal
  • Editing and posting my PaD

What am I actually doing? Why, sitting at my desk staring blankly at the screen, of course. Occasionally I refresh my email in case someone has emailed me, which they haven’t. Then I refresh lj and look in on IRC and check who’s online on MSN. I just uninstalled Google Talk after not having spoken to anyone on it in over a month’s time.

It’s not even that I’m bored… I’m just apathetic.

Dear Jane Creba and family;

I would like to apologize on behalf of our federal politicians for the circus your unfortunate and untimely death will now become. While I am certain that both condolences and outcries from the political corners will be sincere, I find it ill-fated that the circumstances surrounding your situation are undoubtedly going to be used as a pillar for political platforms in the weeks to come.

Picture a Day

Yesterday and Today’s Picture a Day‘s are up. I have discovered that I can’t keep my eyes open for very long spans of time this evening. I started to pack some books and things up for the move, but it barely feels real – we haven’t prepared at all. I think I’ll have Adam call the new landlady and find out when we can get the keys and such.

Going to watch more Dragon Quest VIII. So good.
