I am catching a cold. I am wrapped up in my duvet hoping I can keep it away, however. I don’t feel like having a cold right now, thanks.

Work was uneventful. I sold stuff. People bought stuff. I wanted to buy stuff. I didn’t.

So Adam can get an awesome deal on a digital SLR through his work. I mean awesome. So awesome that I would give up everything, including buying furniture, if I thought we could acquire said digital SLR before the wedding. To have it before the wedding would mean that I would have it for the drive back across the country (aka our honeymoon) – to take a real amount of pictures, not necessarily limited by the amount of film I have, or the fact that I’m going to be worried about processing fees, and so on. I can only imagine the pictures I could take on a cross country driving trip… and to not be limited by the amount of film, well, that would be the most incredible feeling in the world.

So how can I manage to pull that money together? I think for the deal we’d need to act fast.

It’s not worth selling my guitar (which wouldn’t get me enough money anyhow.) I don’t have anything else to sell. We’re making enough to get by right now, but technically have to save for the wedding itself (and honeymoon,) and we couldn’t have enough to act on this soon enough, I don’t think.

I don’t think I know anyone who would lend me that kind of money. Not that I wouldn’t pay it back by the fall, at which point I think we’d be able to, but I just don’t know anyone who could in the first place.

Such an amazing deal though. I must think on this more.

Make sure you have *all* the costs in front of you… trust me, I know. 😉 DSLR body, hopefully you already have lenses you can use with it, extra batteries, and then flash memory. DSLRs can chew up stupid amounts of memory (I budget 10 megabytes per shutter click… a 1 gigabyte card will only hold 100 images). Make sure you have enough flash memory with you. It’s not like film where you can just pop into a gas station somewhere and buy some more.

Yah, I’ve looked into it. It’s a deal on all the equipment the supplier has, and the supplier is the companies themselves (the makers). I’d want to bring extra memory cards and possibly see what options I would have to stop places and burn cds from the cards, if all else failed. Oh yeah, and bring the film SLR. And film.

Sorry if that was convoluted. brain’s not working great right now. just fell asleep lying on the floor.

Oh, that’s a pretty sweet deal then. If you budget your shots and delete the real stinkers, you should be fine. I shoot in raw format on my cameras, which is why they chew up so much space. If you shoot in JPEG and turn up the compression a bit, you can probably fit 400 or 500 shots per 1 GB card. You should not be paying more than about $110 per card of that size, and that’s for a SanDisk Ultra II (fast and great quality).
